BASIC GUIDELINES

  • WISER GRANT INCLUDES
  • For project duration of 36 months the grant includes:

    • Travel support for a minimum of two and a maximum of three visits to the Host Country (India/Germany), with a maximum of one visit permitted per year.
    • Total research stay duration of minimum 30 days and maximum 90 days in the Host country (India/Germany), which is a necessary component of the proposal.
    • Each visit shall have a minimum duration of 10 days and shall not exceed 45 days.

    For project duration of 24 months the grant includes:

    • Travel support for required two visits to the Host Country (India/Germany), with a maximum of one visit permitted per year.
    • Total research stay duration of minimum 20 days and maximum 60 days in the Host country (India/Germany), which is a necessary component of the proposal.
    • Each visit shall have a minimum duration of 10 days and shall not exceed 30 days.

    The grant will cover basic project assistance (including research staff, consumables, minor equipment, overheads and contingency) for the Awardees in both countries.

  • FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
  • Indian awardee

    • Travel (including visa fee and insurance) approximately ₹ 1 lakh
    • Project cost up to ₹ 12 lakh/year (including research staff, consumables, contingency and per diem @ € 2300/month in Germany)

    German awardee

    • Travel (including visa fee and insurance) approximately € 1500
    • Project cost up to € 14500/year (including research staff, consumables, contingency and per diem @ € 2300/month in India)
  • APPLICATION SUBMISSION
  • Applications must be jointly submitted online via the “Application Portal” by the Paired applicants. Submissions by other means shall not be accepted.

    Please note:

    • All applicants (including paired members) must complete registration on the IGSTC portal.
    • The one who starts the application first (from the Pair) will be known as the Primary applicant.
    • The primary applicant enters the paired applicant’s details in the "Pairing Details" section of the application.
    • The paired applicant receives notification regarding the draft application.
    • The paired applicant logs in their IGSTC portal and complete their part of the application.
    • Both applicants shall jointly access and complete the ‘Paired Project Details’ section; this is the only common section of the application shared by both applicants and must be filled collaboratively.
    • In the Financial Overview section of the application, the budget table (including travel and research stay costs) must be completed in accordance with the Budget Guidelines available on the 'WISER Forms' page of the IGSTC website.
    • Final submission of the application shall be done by Primary applicant after all sections have been completed by both applicants.

  • SUPPORT TO FORM PAIRS
  • Applicants are solely responsible for identifying and forming their respective pairs.

    IGSTC offers matchmaking tool to discuss project opportunities and facilitate introductions between potential applicants from India and Germany. It is a 1:1 networking platform.

  • EVALUATION
  • Applications will be evaluated by a Joint Committee based on merit and compliance to the eligibility conditions. Compliance to the application framework and word/page limits is required.

    Evaluation will be based on the following criteria, and the decision of the Committee will be considered as final and binding.

    • Credentials/experience of the paired applicants
    • Relevance to STEM
    • Complementarity of expertise
    • Degree of innovation/ originality
    • Scope
    • Feasibility
    • Work plan
    • Quality of collaboration
    • Expected outcome
    • Future potential of the research and collaboration.
  • PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS
    • The paired applicants must be working either in India or Germany.
    • The paired applicants must jointly define their respective roles, responsibilities, and value addition in the proposed project, clearly outlining the objectives, execution strategy, and expected outcomes.
    • The applicants shall submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the head of the institution (parent organisation).
    • The applicants must provide the year-wise travel and activity plan for the duration of the project, indicating the timeline for corresponding research stays, joint experiments and expected outcomes.
    • The awardee will abide by the conduct, rules & regulations of the host and the host country. IGSTC will not be responsible for violation of any Rules & Regulations by the awardee.
    • Both members of the pair must work for the entire duration of the proposed WISER project.
    • The paired awardees must intimate IGSTC through email/letter in case of discontinuation by the awardee.
    • The awardees must recognise and acknowledge IGSTC in all online/print documents, communications, reports, publications, conferences, theses, etc. on work emanating from the grant.
